Recaps from the last two weekends…
12 Gold – CATS Classic
An awesome start for our 12 Gold. The girls are really starting to understand the difference between serve receive, rotation and base. They learned the importance of serving and were one of the better serving teams at the tournament. They were fearless in defense against some great hitters. We will continue to work on how we can better the ball on our side of the court and to attack the ball on the third hit. Looking forward to the progress we will see in this group – way to play together ladies! – Coach Hedder and Lindsey
13 Gold – U14 Cats classic 1/24/16
What a good start to our season! We are so pleased with how hard our U13 girls are working on learning the new rotations and court positions. The girls were very excited to finally play in a tournament. We were pre seeded 3rd in our pool which turned out to be very evenly matched teams. We came out on top of a three-way tie for second. This put us into our first gold bracket of a U 14 tournament! Again, the girls were quite excited about this accomplishment. Kenzie and I couldn’t be more proud of the progress the girls made in just one day of play! Although we lost the first round of gold bracket to a tough team, we had many great individual plays, as well as many exciting long rallies. We were shown a very good look at the potential of our team! We are all eager to get back in the gym to become even more consistent, and can’t wait to pick up with the level of play we ended with today as we start our next tournament this coming weekend! Keep it up Thunder! – Coach Dee and Kenzie
14 Gold – Winter Warm-Up
We got first in the tournament. Our girls served very well and forced other teams to be out of system more often than not. Very proud of their effort, attitude and their team work. – Coach Jenna
15 Gold – MLK Eugene, OR
U 15 Gold finished second in their pool the first day. I was very please for their first time playing together. On the second day of pool play we had many close games. U15 Gold stepped up on the third day finally understanding their roles on the team and were able to pull together with everyone playing well. We went on to win the Diamond Division Championship, after coming back from a 9 point deficit in the final game. – Coach Cindy
16 Gold – MLK Eugene, OR
U16 Gold placed 10th in Division I in the U16 Eugene tournament. I am proud of the girls and their hard work. We have a ton to work on and new ideas for our system as a team. I’m blessed with a great group of kids that are willing to put in hard work to achieve a higher level of play. Looking forward to the rest of the season. – Coach Jess
18 Gold – MLK Eugene, OR
3 day tournaments challenge you physically, mentally, and emotionally and we are very proud of these girls for facing the challenge head on! Ended up 40 out 108, and was excited to see the process to continue to improve with the level of competition. The best part is that the team really got a chance to see just what level they can play at, and now we have a few weeks before our next tournament to discipline ourselves to play at that higher level at all times. – Coach Drew
Good luck to all the teams playing this weekend!
